Q and A with David Lennon (Newsday)

I had a couple of questions to ask David Lennon on his web blog, On the Mets Beat. Who covers the New York Mets for NY Newsday.

DD: What are the odds that the Mets sign Oliver Perez next season?

DL: Right Now, I'd say 20-1

DD: Do you see the Mets trading for Huston Street? Billy Beane likes Aaron Heilman. I can see the Mets using him as the main chip..

DL: Aaron Heilman hasn't done much for his value lately and the Mets aren't big fans of  Huston Street. Think Big..... K-Rod

DD: Is Orlando Hudson going to be a consideration next year for second base? Assuming the Mets get rid of Castillo..

DL: No I haven't heard him as a possibility and the Mets have to get rid of Castillo first. That might not be so easy.......

DD: Who do you think is the Mets MVP of the three (Delgado, Reyes, Wright)?

DL: Delgado is the Mets MVP. So he is their top candidate for the award. If I was voting for MVP (I'm voting for Cy-Young)  I'd put Delgado somewhere in the top three. Reyes would be in the top 8. Wright is a fringe candidate for the top 10. Wright has been losing momentum over the past months. Even though his Offensive numbers are good and clearly this has been his best Defensive year.

DD: How much money will it take to sign K-Rod?

DL: Probably take $60 Million over 4 years

Thanks to David Lennon who always has live chats on his blog.....
