Heyman: Rundown of Free agent and Trade Block Players

Jon Heyman's latest on SI.Com he has a rundown of the top free agent and trade block players. It is a must read for every baseball fan.

The Mets were mentioned in the article and thinks the Mets will give Brian Fuentes a three year, $39 million dollar contract to satisfy their need at closer. He thinks Francisco Rodriguez will get a  5 yr, $75 Million dollar contract from the Texas Rangers. In other Heyman notes, with his knowledge that Aaron Heilman is on the block it is interesting to note that the Rockies and Diamondbacks think he could be a starter...

He also thinks the Mets will try to enlist the services of  Derek Lowe , who has been mentioned by many to be a prime candidate to fill one of the holes in the rotation. He thinks the Mets will give him 4 yrs, $56 Million.
In other notes about Oliver Perez the Mets will take him back only if it is a 3 year deal.

At second base he says that the Mets will not pursue a second basemen until they get rid of Luis Castillo, which he says , will be a hard task. He also said that Jerry Manuel and Castillo do not see eye to eye, even in their days when they were on  the Marlins together. He listed Orlando Hudson who is a guy that "yearns" to play for the Mets. But according to past reports, the Mets do not think 2B is a main priority at this time.

At catcher, the Mets have been mentioned to be interested in upgrading there. They have mentioned to be interested in Bengie Molina in the past from other sources, but Heyman says that the Rangers have a surplus at catcher. He says the Rangers might be interested in trading, Gerald Laird, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Max Ramriez, Taylor Teagarden. He also says that  Russell Martin might be on the block because the Dodgers want to see more maturity out their talented catcher. The Mets as a last resort might be interested in the services of  Ivan Rodriguez..
