No Manny on the Mets Minds, but the Mets will look at other free agents...
Sorry Mets Fans, But the dream of having Manny Ramirez playing left field for the amazin's just got a little dimmer after reading Jon Heyman's latest.
Heyman also states the obvious, that the Mets are interested in free agents K-Rod, Fuentes, Wood, and last but not least, Trevor Hoffman to fill their void at closer.
In the starting pitching front, he lists free agents Derek Lowe and Oliver Perez as the main Mets targets, but it looks as though Boras will price them through the roof.
He thinks the Mets will go into the second tier of free agents and list Jon Garland and Randy Wolf (Who Joe DeMayo of NYBD said the Mets had interest) as possible candidates.
It looks as though the days of Luis Castillo are numbered because Heyman list Orlando Hudson as a possible free agent target of the Mets.
In the outfield, as I said in the beginning the Mets will not pursue Manny Ramirez, but will remain interested Raul Ibanez.
The Mets chances of trading with the White Sox appear to be slim according to Heyman, as the Mets asked for the likes of Bobby Jenks, Javier Vazquez, and Jermaine Dye, but the prices are too high.
The Mets do not want to sacrifice the prospects to fill holes in their roster and it looks like White Sox, GM Kenny Williams asked for Fernando Martinez, Jon Niese, Eddie Kunz, and Bobby Parnell in any deal for any one of their players..
It looks as though it's gonna be a free agent frenzy for the Mets, but it won't include any big time free agent player names!
