White Sox looking for an offer to Dye for..

Fox Sports Ken Rosenthal says that Mets, Phillies, and Rays have been inquiring about Chicago White Sox outfielder Jermaine Dye, but all have been balking at the price.

The asking price according to Rosenthal is a young starter plus additional players. What that would mean for the Mets, is to unload Jon Niese and probably Fernando Martinez which the Mets will not do.

Dye, earning $11.5 million in the final year of his contract, amounts to a one-season rental. He can block trades to six clubs, most of which are in the northeast, according to a major-league source.

One potentially interested executive said his team was concerned that Dye batted only .210 with runners in scoring position and two outs last season — 36 points below the American League average.
