Interview with Jeff Wilpon about the slow off-season..

The NY Post (Metsblog) had a interview with Jeff Wilpon today and he was asked why the Mets are having such a slow off-season. Wilpon responded that everyone is starting slow because of the economy. Wilpon was asked if the Mets had any plans going into the winter meetings. Wilpon responded by saying that Omar is working the phones with GM's and trying to find matches with their club. He also said that he has been in constant communication with agents of  free agents..

The final questions that were asked by the Post were if the Mets had a budget, if Manny is in the Mets plans, and if the Mets are still in a position to use his addition by subtraction theory.

Wilpon replied by saying the Mets had no definable budget. He does not know if Manny is a option, that they should ask Omar Minaya that. He also thinks that the Mets are probably in a position to use his addition by subtraction theory. He also told the media that they wanted to put the best possible product and players on the field for 2009 at CitiField.
