Game Notes

  • Oliver Perez is 4-2 with a 3.91 ERA lifetime at the Great American Ballpark.
  • After his four RBI performance last night, Delgado needs just seven more to reach the 1500 RBI mark.
  • Both Alex Cora and Ramon Castro are making their 2009 debut today, while regulars Luis Castillo and Brian Schneider get the day off.
  • On this day in 1985, Gary Carter made his Mets debut by hitting a walk-off home run off of Neil Allen to lift the Mets past the Cardinals, 6-5.
Oliver Perez worries me every time he pitches, and his last outing against the Red Sox was just awful. Of course, he usually follows a bad outing with a solid one, but who knows which Ollie you're going to get, right? He will need to be on his game today because for some reason, Bronson Arroyo absolutely owns the Mets. In fact, the only Mets hitter who has seen any sort of success against the tall, lanky right-handed pitcher is Carlos Beltran.

I hope the Mets get to Arroyo early, as to allow Perez some breathing room when he takes the mound. Everybody cross your fingers and pray with me: "Good Ollie, good Ollie..."

As always, Let's Go Mets!
